A Journey of Embracing the
Aesthetics of Subtraction

One of our early prototypes in cubical shape.
Less is More
We believed in the concept of “aesthetics of subtraction” during the design and development of Teatergent.
In practice, we applied the “less is more” strategy to our products and discarded unnecessary components from the configuration.
Here are some stories that we would like to share with you from behind the scenes.

Finding the Balance

Our initial goal was to make a tablet that dissolves swiftly in water, thereby delivering a seamless and prompt user experience to our customers.
To reach that goal, we tried various proportions of our ingredients. The findings indicated that more than 75% of the tablet must consist of effervescent and disintegrating agents to ensure the tea extracts dissolve at a desirable rate.
However, this significantly decreases the cleaning ability due to the dilution of our main ingredient, tea concentrate.

The “ Huge” Mistake
While maintaining the swift dissolution rate and increasing the cleaning ability, our next prototype became ridiculously large. It was eight times larger than the original tablet.
Even though it achieved excellent performance and efficiency, the dramatic size undoubtedly makes the whole product amusing.

Facing a Dilemma
At this development stage, it seems like we’ve come to a dead end. We either have to sell a product with insufficient cleaning ability, or we ask our customers to dissolve eight tablets every time they use it.
Neither of these aligns with the vision we have for our customers.

Aesthetics of Subtraction
The solution came to us as we continuously progressed through the overall product design. The concept of the aesthetics of subtraction led us to create simple but effective products – we sacrificed the dissolution speed.
Our priority is to provide our customers with a natural and effective product that mainly contains tea extracts.
